Days 14->18 – Wednesday -> Sunday

television.gifOver half way through our no TV month and still going strong. (Lorraine showing signs of weakness…)
Our Amazon DVD “American Beauty” arrived so we were allowed to watch it. Can’t believe I had never seen it in all these years. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Valentines day was quiet with Lorraine working but we made up for it by going out on Friday to Dusit in Thistle Street. Fantastic food if a wee bit noisy – suppose it was a Friday night though.

Went for a bike ride down to the Shore at Leith on Saturday – First time in ages for Lorraine. She did really well though. I’ve bought a sturdy set of wheels that are shod with offroad tyres so I can keep road tyres for the daily commute. Ran with the offroad stuff on Saturday to check them out and bed them in. They feel like they are up to the job. Need to try them in anger next!

Saturday night was spent developing stuff for therapies united – nothing obvious as its all reporting for Lorraine’s use…

Garden got a bit of a going over on Sunday along with a trip to B+Q for bits and pieces. Re-Linseed Oiled the garden furniture – how domesticated…
Sitting here writing this listening to Radio 4 instead of watching the tube. PC has recorded 3rd week of Top Gear though…

Days 9->13, Friday ->Tuesday

television.gifIts amazing how often we have gone out this month – I’m sure it’s not more than normal but it’s much more noticable for some reason.

Linda’s birthday on Friday straight after work (for me) meant an evening in Izzi (annoying website BTW) on Lothian Road followed by some beers in Henricks - well OJ as we are still off the booze this year!

Saturday didn’t seem to do much as Lorraine tidied up my sealant botch in the ensuite. I made pizza for tea – including the pizza base!

Sunday was cleaning and then out to Mum’s for tea – she even switched the rugby off when we got there so we wouldn’t be tempted!

Monday I spent the evening on the PC (is this my replacement for TV?) while Lorraine made a cushion cover (how domesticated!)

Days 6/7/8 – Tues->Thurs

television.gifBeen doing quite a bit of work on Lorraine’s website TherapiesUnited so that has filled the void that TV has left! For Perl gurus out there can you remember the syntax for sorting an array by two seperate elements – one text and one numeric. I’ll tell you if you ask nicely…

Reading a bit more too – Terry Pratchett at the moment.

Days 4/5 (Sunday/Monday)

Lorraine was working again on Sunday but I had the shower to get on with so did that most of the day. Worked on the PC once that was done but refrained from gaming or watching the latest episodes of Heroes!!! Oh it was tempting.

Watched Motorcycle Diaries – yes we can get away with watching our Amazon Rentals – in the evening which was really good. Touching but amusing in its own way.

Monday – spent all evening working on the PC while Lorraine painted the woodwork in the ensuite (should it be hyphenated?)

Day 3 – Saturday

Lorraine was working today so was harder without anyone in the house. Lunch would normally have found me sitting in front of the TV for an hour while I munched on a couple of Pitta with hummous(sp?) and salad.

But instead I sat at the kitchen table with the radio on and got back on with ensuite DIY quicker than normal.

Off round to the neighbours for burns supper this evening made it easy too! Out two nights running has been a bit fraudulent. We’ll see how it goes on Sunday.

Day 2

Sat at the table and had brekkie together this morning – very convivial.

Seem to have the need for some noise to be on in the background though. Radio 1 again this morning – although Lorraine says she is listening to Radio 4 these days!

Out to Iggs for dinner tonight – maybe end up going out every night so TV isn’t an option :)

Headed to the cinema to see Babel which was okay – apparently Cinema and our Amazon DVD rentals don’t count for the “not watching” TV regime…
