I’m turning Australian

Not really, but after 3 Barbecues in 3 days maybe I should.

Friday night it was 2 or 3 chums for lots of home made stuff from masterchef Lorraine, including meat and veggie burgers, salsa, hummous, salad, and chutney.

Then Satuday is was off to Craigs for a few hours before before running away to babysitting duties. Some great meat products there courtesy of Angus and expertly cooked by the birthday boy himself.

The Sunday we had some veggie burgers and some burgers that got defrosted on Friday but not cooked to use up so out with the Barbie again!

Veg for the rest of the week methinks as I’ve had my fill of meat!

Tesla Motors

Tesla Motors – Only $109,000 but it gets you an electic car that can do 0-60 in 3.9s and still get the equivalent of 256 mpg!

It runs on a big bank of several thousand lithium-ion batteries (basically what you get in a laptop)

Carry on Camping

With a bit of luck we are off camping this weekend over to Loch Lomond – although I’m not sure the weather is going to be up to much… The tent is still in one piece although it’s not been used since 2005 when we went to T in the Park.

Should be a laugh though as we are going with a bunch of friends.

Sunday 20th – Update

Pictures online

Friday night at Beinglas Farm was pretty wet and the chefs did well to get any sort of cooking done on the bbq at all! After a damp night (need a new tent) we had a hearty breakfast before heading off for a walk along some of the West Highland Way for 4 hours (2 hour out and 2 hours back)

We then headed back home via the Falls of Dochart to feed the moggies!

Making the most of the weather

While we were lucky enough to have decent Sunday weather we headed off on the bikes to South Queensferry for a spot of lunch. 20+ miles later we got back late afternoon after lots of nice quiet roads and cycle paths – the busiest place was the shore at Crammond!

More Roadworks

With waterpipes getting laid along the Corstorphine Road at the moment and traffic down to one lane anyway, Haymarket is set to become the next victim of the Tram roadworks.

Check out the map on the BBC to see where the detours are.

Shandwick place detours have worked pretty well, I am on a bicycle though so I might be biased…

Canada gallery online

I’ve put a huge selection of photos from our trip online.

The basic running order was

  • 24 hour delay leaving (thanks Globespan)
  • Calgary for Brenda and Tim’s wedding
  • Banff
  • Lake Louise
  • Jasper
  • Back in Calgary
  • 2 hour delay (thanks again Globespan)
  • Home!

Managed to read two books on hols, both by Ben Elton – Popcorn at the airport and plane journey going, and then Blind Faith finished in Canada.

Started a Dean Koontz one at Calgary airport too.
