Puncture Number 3

It’s been a wee while since my last puncture but this one happened right in the middle of Princes Street on my way home last night!

Thought the bike felt a bit slow then when I went to change direction the front end felt like mush – flat as a pancake. It wouldn’t stay pumped up but fortunately I had a spare tube and tyre levers with me so fixed it in the grounds of the church at the West End.

The worry – like when I last fixed a puncture – was that I hadn’t found the cause (and I hadn’t) and I was just going to get another flat. No such problem this time – home fine and fixed the other tube which is now my spare. Must have been a sharp stone or bit of glass as there is a tiny cut in the tyre corresponding to the hole in the tube.

M25 chaos after lorry jack-knifes

A lorry containing boxes of golf balls has jack-knifed across the clockwise carriageway of the M25 in Surrey, causing a traffic tailback of 20 miles. The accident at junction seven, where the M25 meets the M23, has resulted in traffic chaos back to the Swanley interchange, at junction three in Kent.

Lanes one and two, which are the dedicated lanes for the M23, have been closed since 0545 BST.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays until at least early afternoon.

Traffic on the M26 heading westbound on to the clockwise M25 is also affected.

Eyewitnesses said hundreds of boxes of golf balls had spilled onto the motorway.

Mim Lovelock, from the Highways Agency control centre at Godstone, said a forklift truck was helping to remove the load, and the lorry, which was embedded into the side barrier, would then be taken off the carriageway.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Please Post a humorous comment!

Holiday weekend busyness (or should that be business?)

It was an Edinburgh (Scotland?) holiday yesterday so as if on cue – it rained quite a lot :(

Anyway a trip to Ikea on Saturday morning meant I had things to build so good excuse to stay in and do that. We’ve reorganised and redecorated what was the therapy room into our office which meant some shelves and a different/smaller desk.

I also fitted a Scottoiler to the bike after fitting a new chain and sprockets the previous weekend. Not sure how its getting on yet as trip to work will be the first outing for it. Hopefully it will save on replacement chain/sprockets in the future.

Roadworks

Seems like there are lot of roadworks about just now – no mention of them on the Clarence website but I came across 5 in a slightly circuitous route home the other day.

Old and new albums

I’ve been re-uploading some of blmweb’s old albums and also a couple of new ones from our latest exploits – in Barra and Paris

As time allows I’ll keep uploading some of the old albums too.

Normal service is resumed

(Hopefully)

After a few days of no blmweb, I am back in business.

I foolishly cancelled accounts before the domain name had transferred so it meant blmweb was in a kind of limbo – owned and registered by me but the name didn’t point anywhere.

All seems okay now though and I have total control over all my websites so much more geeky kudos to me…
