Lucky table…

A thousand thank yous to Lynn for getting a table at a Midsummer Charity Gig on Saturday night.

Charities were

Chest, Heart and Stroke,

Alzheimers,

Multiple Sclerosis,

MacMillan Care

We all bought raffle tickets at our table and after the great food and some dancing the draw took place.

Dave very generously bought a round of golf for 4 at Gleneagles at a bargain price of £200! (get your applications in now if you want to be Dave’s best golfing mate…)

Lorraine won a cake to be made a future time.

I won a box of celebrations which we ate some of then handed the rest over to the bar staff.

Lynn won a mystery prize which turned out to be a candle holder ornament thingummy.

Suzanne won a bottle of ‘Peaty Water’ – in reality a 12 yr old Malt and Celtic hip flask!

As well as the prizes we had a great time – video and stills to follow.

No not mine – well not yet anyway…

Those of you who know Chris know that he’s always picking up the odd bargain of a motorbike now and again – so why not check out

Birthday Greetings!

I know its not your birthday yet Suzanne, but thanks for the bash on the weekend – was good fun – poor Lorraine was tired out after all the dancing!

I might put some video up on youtube – we’ll see if anyone wants to pay me not to :)

Glentress newbie

On a clear, warm, mostly sunny Sunday Luke persuaded me to have my first go at Glentress Mountain biking.

I only fell off once – and that was at about 2 mph on the way up. Other than that it was a total blast.

A long climb up to the top had me gasping for breath and having to have frequent juice stops – it took about an hour of cycling I think to get from the bottom car park all the way to the summit.

From the very top after a good break it was on with the downhill (red route)
Check out this video of some obviously more experienced folk doing the start.

Great fun – completely knackered by the end of the day – and I’ve come to work on the motorbike today as my legs are a bit stiff!

2 buses, 6 trains, 2 planes, 1 taxi, 1 car

That’s what a trip to Reading on business involves! Everything was pretty much on time – the biggest delay was waiting for the Airport bus from Edinburgh Airport back home!

6 trains you ask? To save the company 50% on the price of BA to Heathrow I ‘Queasy Jetted’ to Stansted. This does mean 1 train from Stansted to Liverpool Street, underground to Paddington, then back on regular train to Reading – and the same again heading home.

Did get a nice night and nosh in the Crowne Plaza, Reading though.

Meeting was delayed by an hour, the others were then 15 minutes late arriving so I had to leave after 1hour 15 minutes!

So to some up…

30mins to the airport

60mins waiting at the airport

75mins flying to Stansted

50mins train from Stansted to Liverpool St

30mins underground Liverpool St to Paddington

26mins train Paddington to Reading

5mins taxi to Crown Plaza

a grand total of 3 hours and 36 minutes on various forms of transport with 1hour (at least waiting around)
