Motorcycle Ponderings

Hmmmm,

At the age of 17 I was persuaded by Dad to get a motorbike so I could get in and out of University easily (probably so I didn’t keep asking to borrow the car…)

After 20 years of motorcycling with only the occasional non-biking period – the longest one I can remember is when I broke by scaphoid – I’m considering selling the Fazer Thou…

Considering mind you, not entirely decided yet.

The main use of the motorbike was the daily commute just over 3 miles each way into and out of town. Since I’ve had my bicycle though I’ve hardly used it.

Its taxed and insured but its MOT has recently lapsed – not because it will fail – just because I have no pressing need to have it back on the road after the winter layup.
So dear reader – what do you think? Should I MOT and sell it or keep it for the very occasional further afield visit that I can’t cycle to when Lorraine has the car?

Ponder ponder.

I’m moving to Holland… (not really)

After visiting Mark yesterday I cycled all the way up Dundas Street and over Queen Street to George Street on the way home.

Its only 1/2 mile but its all up hill – pretty steep too. My daily commute doesn’t have that much in the way of ups and downs as steep as this so I’m not that used to it.

Made it all the way up though – only stopping at the Queen Street junction, cos the lights were red, but it gave me a chance to catch my breath. No granny ring pedalling either!

Might try to do it a bit more often to keep the fitness drive going. All uphill tonight going to Tai Chi too.

Wow – its all gone quiet

Hey wow – since we’ve ended our self-imposed TV embargo I’ve not been posting so much – is it because we’re watching endless hours of TV – no – well mostly…

As with our Heroes catch up the previous weekend we managed to get through 4 episodes of Lost and it actually gets quite exciting again. Some old sub-stories are revisited and some new ones are introduced. Desmond (“alright brother”) has more to say and adds an additional twist!

Other than this we’ve still not watched any “live” TV for the sake of it.

Still reading and PCing and playing with gadgets (more on this later…)

Lorna got her scan on Friday as we are due to be Uncle Bruce and Auntie Lorraine at the end of August – I’ll see about posting a pic here with Lorna and Steven’s permission.

That’s all for now!

Heroes overdose

We made it! The whole of February without watching TV.

All we watched were our Amazon DVD Rentals of

  • I Walk the Line
  • American Beauty
  • Motorcycle Diaries

and 2001 : A Space Odyssey on DVD

A couple of trips to the flicks in the middle – can’t remember what to see other than “Hot Fuzz”.

So on Friday or Saturday (or was it both) we watched at least 6 episodes of Heroes to catch up – and a couple of Desperate Housewives (for Lorraine – honestly…)

Still not seen any ‘live’ TV yet though – just what I’ve recorded.

27->28 Tuesday and Wednesday

That’s it – the last two days are over and we’ve survived the No TV regime for the whole of February.

There was no desire to stay up until midnight and watch stuff, or to get up and watch breakfast TV for the first time in a month which was good.

Saw Hot Fuzz with the Paul’s last night which was most enjoyable – if a bit gross at times. In fact it was the funniest thing I’d seen in a long time.

I’ve got some Top Gears to catch up on tonight while Lorraine is working so that’ll be the first ‘TV’ – non DVD movie stuff since January!
